Gafsa President Mahmoud Abboud Ousted

Three days after their return from Egypt where they lost to Haras Al Hodoud by the score of 3-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup, Gafsa have ousted president Mohamed Abboud for apparently attacking one of the team’s players.
The incident occurred on the eve of the Tunisian league side’s match versus their
Egyptian opponents. According to Tunisian media, Abboud reacted angrily when certain players complained about the accommodations that they had been provided with in Alexandria.
The now deposed president allegedly gathered the players in question and gave each of them their passport and told them that they should find rooms elsewhere. Abboud ended up slapping striker Mohamed Boudabbous when the player returned to the hotel to speak with a team-mate.
After their embarrassing loss to Haras Al Hodoud, coach Mohamed El Kouki admitted that the regrettable events influenced his team negatively and did not allow them to concentrate on the task at hand.
Gafsa are currently in a relegation struggle and are only one point away from the
drop zone. They began preparing for their upcoming match versus Club Athletique
Bizertin yesterday at Borj Cedria. The team’s board members are set to take
over administrative duties until the end of the season.
